This technology introduces a micro-expression (ME) recognition system that improves analysis of subtle, involuntary facial muscle changes, critical for understanding nonverbal emotional cues. It leverages 3D facial reconstruction, apex spotting, and optical flow-guided features to analyze small-sized input images. The system achieves high accuracy, with a UAR of 69.44% and UF1 of 70.71%, validated on an in-the-wild dataset. Applications include psychological analysis, security, and behavioral studies. This advancement moves ME recognition closer to real-world deployment in dynamic environments.
