Affordable Early Cancer Screening with Photoacoustic Tech
Fast Cancer Screening Device for Early-stage Cancer Diagnosis, using a Quantitative Photoacoustic Spectral Response Technique
Tags: IIT Indore, India, Healthcare & Lifesciences
This innovation introduces a cost-effective, non-invasive cancer screening device using photoacoustic spectral response (PASR) technology. It employs a compact pulsed laser diode system to differentiate malignant and fibrocystic changes from normal tissue. Designed for early-stage cancer detection, it is particularly useful in remote areas with limited medical facilities. The device provides high sensitivity and real-time analysis for rapid diagnostics. A patent has been filed (Indian Patent Application Nos. 202221056741, 202221050788).
Price-performance metrics: Conventional instrument cost – ₹70+ lakh, Developed instrument cost – Less than ₹1 lakh, making it significantly more affordable.
IP Type or Form Factor: Patent Pending; Device
