This study presents a D-shaped photonic crystal fiber (PCF) with a quasi-sinusoidal surface, designed to improve surface plasmon resonance (SPR) sensor performance. The sensor supports dual polarization, allowing SPR to occur at both transverse magnetic (TM) and transverse electric (TE) modes, resulting in enhanced sensing accuracy. It significantly reduces signal propagation loss in TE mode and offers high sensitivity for detecting refractive index variations. The PCF is suitable for biosensing and chemical sensing due to its stable, repeatable data collection. The design provides a broad detection range and reliable performance with adjustable losses.
