Detection Molecules, Kits and Methods for Predicting Orchid Fragrance Production
Tags: National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan, Agriculture & Food, Healthcare & Lifesciences
This technology introduces a molecular marker and method for early identification of monoterpenoid traits in Phalaenopsis orchids, enabling detection before flowering. The method uses the key enzyme sequence in the monoterpene synthesis pathway, performing PCR to establish the molecular marker. Applications include early evaluation of Phalaenopsis fragrance traits, reducing costs and waste in orchid cultivation. This innovation allows growers to predict aroma traits, improving breeding and commercial outcomes.
