Eco-Friendly E-Waste to Fuel & Metal Recovery Process
E-waste Plastic into Fuel and Metal Recovery
Tags: IIT Delhi, India, Energy & Environment, Science & Exploration
An integrated process has been developed to convert e-waste plastics into fuel while recovering valuable metals through a low-temperature roasting technique using ammonium chloride. Unlike traditional hydrochloric acid-based methods, this process is non-toxic, non-corrosive, and eliminates storage and transportation risks. The reaction produces metal chlorides, which are then leached with water for metal recovery. Applications include plastic recycling industries aiming for sustainable waste management. A functional prototype has been developed and successfully tested in a laboratory environment.
