A novel catalyst composition has been developed to enhance the decomposition of sulfuric acid into sulfur dioxide and oxygen in the Iodine-Sulfur process for hydrogen production. The catalyst features a pre-treated, high heat-transferable support that accelerates this high-temperature, endothermic reaction (850-1000°C). It offers an economical, non-toxic alternative by using non-noble metals. Applications include hydrogen production and other processes requiring sulfuric acid decomposition. The technology has been extensively validated in laboratory tests.
