Flexible Organic Solar Panels for Efficient Power, Light Use
Novel Semitransparent Organic Photovoltaics for Green Buildings
Tags: National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, Taiwan, Energy & Environment
NYCU researchers have developed novel semitransparent organic photovoltaics (St-OPVs) with a pseudo p-i-n active layer structure that balances high power conversion efficiency (PCE) and high visible light transmission (VLT). This breakthrough allows for both power generation and photosynthesis, making it ideal for integration into greenhouses and buildings. The St-OPVs are lightweight, flexible, and reduce land use requirements compared to conventional solar cells. Applications include sustainable power generation for green buildings and agricultural facilities. This innovation offers a greener alternative by reducing CO2 emissions and optimizing space usage.
