Heat-Stable Biotherapeutics for Cost-Effective Storage
Stabilization of Biotherapeutics at High Temperature
Tags: IIT Delhi, India, Healthcare & Lifesciences
A dendron-based formulation has been developed to enhance the thermal stability of biotherapeutic proteins, enabling storage at temperatures up to 55°C. Unlike existing solutions that rely on excipients and cryoprotectants for chemical stability, this technology prevents protein degradation caused by high temperatures. It uses biocompatible dendrons as excipients to maintain protein integrity, reducing storage costs and extending shelf life. The formulation has been tested at a lab scale for monoclonal antibody IgG1. Applications include stabilizing monoclonal antibodies, cytokines, growth factors, and other biotherapeutics for pharmaceutical use.
