High-Efficiency, Low Resistance Multilayer Air Filter
Air Filters for Filtration of Airborne Particles
Tags: IIT Delhi, India, Wellness, Safety & Fitness, Energy & Environment
A compact, lightweight, and high-performance fibrous air filter has been developed by Prof. Dipayan Das at IIT Delhi. It features a multilayered structure where fiber cross-sectional shapes create a gradient for enhanced filtration. The bi-layered design includes fibers with circular and non-circular cross-sections to optimize efficiency and dirt-holding capacity. This filter provides low airflow resistance and requires minimal component replacement. Applications include HVAC systems, HEPA/ULPA filters, engine intake filters, and air purifiers.
