Improve Grid Stability, Minimise Frequency Fluctuations
An Ultra-Battery Energy Storage System for Load Frequency Control in a Multi-Area Power Network
Tags: IIT Delhi, India, Energy & Environment, Infrastructure, Utilities & Communications
IIT Delhi has developed an Ultra-Battery Energy Storage System (UBESS) that enhances load frequency control in multi-area power networks. The system includes a supervisory-controlled ultra-battery bank and a predictive optimizer that stabilizes current flow based on reference commands. It minimizes frequency fluctuations, improves grid stability, and ensures operation within a predetermined voltage range. Applications include energy storage and management for multi-power networks to enhance power reliability. A functional prototype has been extensively tested in a simulated laboratory environment, with an Indian patent application filed (201911049727).
