IoT-Enabled Smart Absorbent Material and Sanitary Device
Tags: IIT Indore, India, Healthcare & Lifesciences, Industrial Automation & Manufacturing
This technology introduces an IoT-enabled smart sanitary device with laser-induced graphene and thin metal electrodes for biofluid detection. The wearable system alerts users via vibration feedback when menstruation begins, leakage occurs, or the pad reaches saturation. It connects to a waist-mounted IoT device that tracks health metrics through a mobile app. The innovation extends to adult diapers, benefiting geriatric and physically impaired users. A patent has been filed (Indian Patent Application No. 202321067853).
Price-performance metrics: Low manufacturing cost for replaceable sanitary pads with electrodes and a rechargeable wearable device for real-time monitoring.
IP Type or Form Factor: Patent Pending; Device; Software & Algorithm
TRL: 6 - prototype validated in intended environment
Industry or Tech Area: Healthcare Consumer; Internet of Things
