Magnetic Spheres for Fast, Accurate Virus Detection
Tetrahedral Polymer with Bilateral Asymmetric Particles for Biomolecule Detection
Tags: National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan, Healthcare & Lifesciences
This invention introduces a submicron bilateral asymmetric magnetic sphere for rapid virus detection, quantification, and distinguishing between live and dead viruses. The spheres, attached to antibodies and fluorescent dyes, co-self-assemble with viruses in an aqueous solution, forming a polymer structure that enables detection in under 30 minutes. Applications include clinical virus screening, aquatic water quality testing, and medical product manufacturing. This technology reduces false positives and allows real-time virus quantification, improving diagnostic accuracy and speed.
