Microgrid Control for Reliable Power & Blackout Prevention
A Microgrid Control Framework for Preventing Power Blackouts
Tags: IIT Delhi, India, Infrastructure, Utilities & Communications, Energy & Environment
A microgrid control framework has been developed to prevent power blackouts by ensuring a stable and continuous electricity supply. It uses a sensor-less technique to estimate the speed and position of wind generators while detecting grid failures and isolating the microgrid to avoid disruptions. The system enables smooth transitions between grid-connected and isolated modes while storing excess generated power in batteries to balance supply and demand. It follows IEEE-1547-2018 synchronization standards, ensuring seamless integration with existing power infrastructure. Applications include microgrid operations for autonomous power delivery to residential and community areas.
