Reduce Consumption Automatically of High Energy Appliances
A Smart Appliance Control Solution for a Building Energy Management System
Tags: IIT Delhi, India, Energy & Environment, Industrial Automation & Manufacturing
IIT Delhi has developed a smart appliance control solution that integrates IoT, GPS, and cloud-based systems to manage energy consumption in buildings. The retrofitted device enables zonal grouping of appliances, automates operation through time-based scheduling, and allows real-time health monitoring. It reduces energy consumption by switching off high-energy appliances when not needed while allowing manual override in case of failures. Applications include energy management in residential and commercial buildings for cost-effective and efficient operation. A functional prototype has been deployed at IIT Delhi, with an Indian patent application filed (202111028753).
