Reliable Solar Pump Drive with Fault-Tolerant SRM Control
A Solar Irrigation Pump Without Need of a Mechanical Position Sensor
Tags: IIT Delhi, India, Industrial Automation & Manufacturing, Agriculture & Food
A switched reluctance motor (SRM) drive has been developed for solar irrigation pumps, eliminating the need for a mechanical position sensor. This innovation reduces manufacturing and maintenance costs while enhancing system reliability. The mid-point converter enables fault-tolerant control, ensuring uninterrupted pump operation even in case of phase faults. Applications include low and medium power systems such as irrigation pumps and fans. A prototype has been developed and successfully tested in a laboratory environment.
