This Zinc-iodine-bromide flow battery (ZIBB) uses a water-based electrolyte, making it inherently non-flammable, addressing safety concerns in energy storage. It can be refueled quickly by swapping the liquid electrolyte, removing limitations on battery models. ZIBB achieves a world-record energy density of 101 Wh/L and can be scaled for electric vehicles and grid-level energy storage. Its scalability and safety make it ideal for renewable energy integration and electric vehicle use. Applications include EVs and grid storage systems.
