Scratch Resistant Glass for TVs, Smartphones and Tablets
Ultrathin Graphene Coating Can Make Glasses Extremely Scratch-Resistant
Tags: IIT Delhi, India, Consumer Goods & Services, Transportation & Automotive
Researchers at IIT Delhi have discovered that an ultrathin graphene coating can make glass surfaces extremely scratch-resistant. By leveraging graphene's slipperiness and rigidity, the coating transforms glass into a smooth, ultra-low friction surface, significantly reducing damage from scratches. Applications include enhancing the durability of touch-screen displays in smartphones and tablets. The study introduces a simple, commercially viable method for creating scratch-resistant glass for next-generation devices.
