Solar-Powered Multi-Mode Charging for Rural E-Rickshaws
A Multi-Purpose Charging Station for E-Rickshaws in Rural Areas
Tags: IIT Delhi, India, Energy & Environment, Transportation & Automotive
IIT Delhi has developed a solar PV-based multi-purpose charging station that efficiently powers e-rickshaws and supports rural electrification. The system includes a controller that synchronizes grid and station voltage, optimizing solar energy use while allowing seamless grid connectivity. It is designed to support the growing demand for e-rickshaws and electric vehicles in off-grid rural areas. Applications include sustainable EV charging and providing electricity to rural communities. A prototype has been developed and validated in a laboratory setting, with an Indian patent application filed (201711044219).
