NTreat is an in-situ wastewater treatment system designed for open drains (nallahs) using a natural, multi-step process involving primary and secondary treatments to remove floating materials, sediments, and odours. It is constructed from RCC or FRP and can be deployed in polluted nallahs to improve water quality. Applications include treating wastewater in urban and rural areas, reducing environmental pollution, and improving the aesthetic and health conditions near nallahs. Currently at TRL 9, NTreat is being tested as a demo unit at IIT Bombay and is sponsored by MMRDA for use in the Mahul Creek area. The technology is cost-effective, scalable, and provides a sustainable solution for municipalities and urban bodies.
