CSIR-Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute [CSIR-CMERI]: This technology introduces a Low-capacity, Ultra-light Pneumatic Muscle Actuator (LUPMA) designed for wearable bio-robotic applications. The LUPMA features an inner inflatable silicone tube, a double helical braided nylon sleeve, and 3D-printed end sealing connectors. When fed with compressed air, it contracts and applies a pulling force, making it ideal for lightweight, low-cost wearable robotics. The muscle actuator operates up to 5 bar pressure and offers customizable lengths and reusability of connectors, enhancing its versatility in bio-robotic applications.
