Tags: Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, India, Science & Exploration, Energy & Environment
The Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometer (ICPMS) is a highly versatile analytical tool capable of trace, ultra-trace, and isotope ratio analysis in aqueous samples. It uses an inductively coupled plasma ion source and a quadrupole mass analyzer to achieve high sensitivity, with detection limits from parts per trillion (ppt) to parts per billion (ppb) for most elements. ICPMS is widely applicable in nuclear, environmental, geological, semiconductor, chemical, pharmaceutical, petrochemical, and forensic laboratories. The system requires advanced mechanical fabrication, electronics assembly, and specific infrastructure for its operation.
